Senegal: in difficulty, wrestlers ask for resources and the resumption of competitions

The tenors of the Senegalese struggle can no longer suffer the consequences of Covid-19 without significant help from the State.
In front of the press, Saturday, December 26, they denounced the limited financial means granted to this discipline, king sport in this country.
They demand the reopening of the wrestling season and financial support from the state.

Senegalese wrestling professionals are angry with state authorities.
The latter have simply forgotten them in the financial aid intended for the various sectors in difficulty.
The fight ultimately only received the sum of 40,000 euros.
Ibrahima Dione, alias Gris Bordeaux, is the president of the Senegalese wrestlers association.
He expresses himself: “
Of this sum of 1.3 billion CFA francs for the whole sport, the fight had only 27 million.
(...) It is not normal.
It has nothing to do with the opening of the season.
"

Alongside the champions in wrestling with strikes such as

, also champion in MMA, or Balla Gaye II, specialized columnists call for the reopening of the championship.
Malick Thiandoum, sports journalist: “
The wrestlers were absolutely right to sound the alarm.
It's a whole world behind the fight, a whole industry.
Beyond the wrestler, everyone who revolves around wrestling reap something.
Today, this discipline should resume.
It's a question of survival.

The new coronavirus has turned a lot of activities in Senegal upside down.
If almost all the championships will restart at the start of the year, with the barrier measures, the wrestlers still do not know if they will be able to resume competition.
