It's going average for Alan Roura -

Thomas Rouillard's Christmas blues can end.

The Northerner has just made his return to the top 3 of the Vendée Globe after several days of hardship and a northern trajectory to bypass a low pressure center.

Here it is again in a good way.

Provisionally kicked out of the top 10, he took over the chasing pack one by one [11 boats stand in 500 miles] led by the inseparable Hermann and Le Cam.

"I'm upwind," explained Rettant to France Inter.

I go upwind, not typical conditions at this time of year.

I invested in the north because of the high pressure and I am reaping the benefits of this somewhat compulsory option.

I recovered a third place that I had never really left meteorologically.

[…] The regatta is exciting and hard on the nerves.

"

📍By going up far in the North bypassing the low pressure center, @LinkedOut_VG offered himself the possibility of coming back strongly to this provisional podium that he will in the end only have abandoned for a few hours.

Keel damage for Alan Roura

Alan Roura fought against his keel

Times are tough for the sailor at the helm of La Fabrique.

Victim of a damage to his keel hydraulic system on Saturday, the Swiss Alan Roura saw his Imoca be flooded with oil in the process.

He then battled for 12 hours with the remote help of his technical team to be able to resume the race.

“I don't want to claim victory right away, but I'm happy to have a tilting keel that works again, rejoiced the Swiss on Saturday late afternoon.

The keel may be a little more difficult than usual but the main thing is that it works and that I was able to return the canvas and regain speed.

Now, I am going to go and rest because I am burnt out at home.

"

Remontada to follow for Louis Burton?

As we told you above, the first 11 boats in the Vendée Globe fleet are held in just under 500 miles.

The last of them, Bureau Vallée II, helmed by Louis Burton, could well be the first to benefit from a new wind carrying along the forbidden ice zone.

It's not impossible for the Malouin to grab a few places in the peloton thanks to this favorable weather.

A lesser evil for Burton, still on the podium at the beginning of December.
