An English team prevents its players from shopping for fear of Corona

English football club Wolverhampton has banned its players from shopping in stores, amid fears that they may be infected with the emerging corona virus, as infection increases across the country.

Players and employees of the Premier League are scheduled to undergo Covid-19 testing twice a week in areas subject to Level 4 restrictions according to British authorities' regulations.

The latest round of checks revealed seven positive cases out of 1,569 tests on Monday.

Manchester City confirmed the injury of its Brazilian players, Gabriel Jesus, Kyle Walker and other employees.

"We have employees to go shopping and stores for them," Wolverhampton coach Nuno Espirito Santo said before his team's match with Tottenham on Sunday.

"We have to avoid any kind of risk because we have a small team and we have problems with some absent players. We cannot afford to lose any player, we say to them on a daily basis + Do not underestimate and try to be more careful."

The club asked players to avoid supermarkets during the first three months of closure between March and May.

"Our kitchen staff puts in a big box of the basic things we need. During the height of the epidemic, it was going astray for everyone. And when the situation improved, we told the players that you are free to shop for yourselves," the coach noted.

"But now with the increase in cases, and with this new boom that worries everyone, we will go back to the previous one again. It is about protecting ourselves," he concluded.
