In a press release, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council announced the participation of the world's elite stars in the 16th edition of the "Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf", which will be held at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club, from January 21 to January 24, 2021, as part of the famous "Rolex Series" rounds.

Westwood crowned his career with winning the Abu Dhabi Championship, becoming the first golfer to achieve victories in four decades, with a record of 25 wins on the European Tour.

Previously, the world number one topped the final day of the tournament, one stroke ahead of his closest competitors, and after a brief draw in favor of him with 19 strikes below par with a score of 67, two strokes ahead of his compatriots Fitzpatrick, Fleetwood and Frenchman Perez to win his second titles in the "Rolex Series".

Abu Dhabi Sports Council Secretary-General Aref Al-Awani said: “We are delighted that defending champion Lee Westwood will participate in the 2021 edition, along with an elite group of former champions, such as Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry and Martin Kaymer.

He added: "Last year, Westwood performed an exceptional performance that deserved praise and appreciation, and the participation of the world's elite stars in the 16th edition of the tournament reflects Abu Dhabi's prestigious position in the global sporting scene."

The 2021 edition will be held at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, from January 21 to 24.
