Ronaldo and Bonucci apologize to Juventus fans after finishing 2020 with a resounding defeat

Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo and his Italian Juventus teammate Leonardo Bonucci today apologized to the fans of the Old Lady's club for their "worst" performance, after the Italian champion suffered his first loss this season in the Football League against modest Fiorentina.

The "Bianconeri" played most of the game with ten men, after the sending off of Colombia's Juan Cuadrado after a quarter of an hour from the start of the match, which they lost 3-0 at home to 18th-placed Fiorentina.

"The worst Juventus in this first part of the season. I apologize to the fans in my name first and foremost. Nothing to add," wrote defender Bonucci on his Instagram page.

As for Ronaldo, he criticized "a result that is far from acceptable", as the Portuguese star failed to increase his 12 goals, which are the top scorer in the league.

"Yesterday, with a poor performance and a result far from acceptable, we have finished our matches scheduled for 2020, which is a special year in many ways," the five-time Ballon d'Or winner said on Instagram.

"Empty stadiums, Covid protocols, matches postponed, long stops and a very crowded calendar," he added.

"But this is not an excuse for anything. We know that we have to do more, in order to play better and win in a continuous way."

Ronaldo assured, "We are Juventus! We cannot simply accept anything less than excellence on the field! I hope this short pause will help us come back stronger and more united than ever, because the season is still long, and in the end we think we will celebrate again with Our fans. "

He addressed the fans by saying, "Trust us and our team as much as we trust you, and we will give you what you are waiting for."

The defeat was a double setback for Juventus, after a decision by a jury in the Italian Olympic Committee canceled the club's 3-0 victory over Napoli when the latter withdrew from the match due to the infection of players in its ranks with the new Corona virus and decided to repeat the match at a later date.

With these three points not counted and Tuesday's loss, Juventus has only 24 points, seven behind leaders Milan, who meet Lazio on Wednesday.

Napoli had submitted his case to one of the arbitration committees of the Italian Olympic Committee after the Italian Football Federation and the Italian League Association rejected the appeals that he had submitted.

The Olympic Committee said in a statement that it "accepted the appeal submitted by Napoli and canceled without delay the decision of the Italian Football Federation's Sports Court of Appeal, including the two penalties for the loss to Juventus and the deduction of a point."
