The International Table Tennis Federation has decided to cancel the world championships of team competitions scheduled to be held in South Korea next year due to the spread of the new coronavirus.

The world table tennis championships alternate between individual and team competitions every other year, and this was originally planned to be held in March in Busan, South Korea.



It was a tournament that was attracting attention as a prelude to the Tokyo Olympics, but as a result of being postponed three times so far due to the influence of the new coronavirus, it was scheduled to be held from February 28 to March 7 next year.



The International Table Tennis Federation announced on the 22nd that it has decided to cancel the world championship in consideration of the ongoing spread of the new coronavirus in South Korea and other parts of the world.



According to the International Table Tennis Federation, the World Championships will be canceled for the first time after World War II.
