Suarez double leads Atletico to the top of the Spanish League

Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez returned to score the net to help his team win 3-1 at home to Elche, topping the Spanish Premier League, three points behind his closest competitors on Saturday.

Suarez, who had not scored since November 7, gave Atletico the lead in the 41st minute with a simple touch that converted a ground pass from Kieran Trippier to the goal.

Then Suárez slid to follow a wonderful cross pass from Yannick Carrasco in the 58th minute towards the net to score his ninth goal this season, and share the top scorer in the tournament with Iago Aspas, Celta Vigo striker and Michael Uyarzabal, striker Real Sociedad.

Elche returned to the match when Lucas Boy reduced the difference with a header in the 64th minute after a wonderful cross pass from a corner kick, but substitute Diego Costa settled the game points for Atletico through a penalty kick in the 80th minute.
