Borussia Mönchengladbach suffered their first home defeat of the season.

With the 1: 2 (1: 0) against Hoffenheim, the Champions League round of 16 threatens to lose contact with the top positions.

In the final phase, however, the sport took a back seat after Gladbach's Marcus Thuram spat his opponent Stefan Posch in the face from a short distance (77th).

It may have been the frustration after Hoffenheim had equalized two minutes earlier through Andrej Kramaric.

The disgusting action was not excusable.

The striker faces a longer suspension.

For a long time it looked like the third home win for the Gladbach team.

Lars Stindl, who had already scored all goals at 3: 3 in Frankfurt on Tuesday, scored the lead after 34 minutes with a penalty.

An eventful week for the captain, whose importance for the team was documented by Marco Rose on Friday with the extension of his contract until 2023.

Thuram's action and negligence in defensive behavior let Stindl's goal shrink to statistical value.

Ryan Sessegnon took advantage of Hoffenheim's majority and punished Borussia four minutes before the end of the game with his goal with a poke.
