The opening took place on December 18, Qatar's national day, before the final match of the Emir's Cup between Al-Sadd and the seven-time country champion Al Arabi.
The President of the International Football Federation (FIFA) Gianni Infantino attended the opening ceremony and was impressed by the new arena, noting that such a stadium is ideal for hosting World Cup matches.
“Congratulations to Qatar on the completion of another project.
The country is perfectly preparing for the tournament and is heading towards hosting an unforgettable World Cup, ”added the head of FIFA.
The Ahmad bin Ali stadium became the fourth open for the World Championship, which will be held in December 2022.
The stadiums "Khalifa", "Al-Janub" and "Education City" were opened before.
Earlier it was reported that the Qatar national football team will play with the teams of group A in the European qualification for the 2022 World Cup.
