There were as many as ten Swedish podium places the first two competition weekends in Kontiolahti.

In Hochfilzen, there have so far been two more in the form of victory in the men's relay and a third place in the women's.

Ola Lunde, commentator on Norwegian NRK, is both impressed and surprised by the Swedish start to the season.

- It is absolutely fantastic.

Sweden has performed at an enormously high level, both ladies and gentlemen.

I am a little surprised that they are so good but very impressed, says Lunde to SVT Sport.

Concerns about Samuelsson's form

On the men's side, Lunde is above all impressed by Martin Ponsiluoma and Sebastian Samuelsson.

He even sees the latter as a challenger to victory in the overall World Cup.

- Samuelsson is fighting for the victory in the overall World Cup.

He shoots much better this year and skiers much, much faster on the track, says Lunde and admits that the Swede's form worries in Norway.

- We are a little afraid that he will be better than the Norwegians.

This year, he is ten percent better in both horizontal and vertical shooting.

In addition, his riding times are about 30 seconds better compared to Johannes Thingnes Bö.

Twice this year, Samuelsson has cracked the big favorite Thingnes Bö in the last shot.

The last time was in the men's relay last weekend in Hochfilzen.

Who do you think is the strongest over the whole season, Samuelsson or Thingnes Bö?

- Normally I would have said that Johannes is the stronger one.

But I do not think he shoots well enough and he has not been as good on the ski track as he usually is.

So I'm a little unsure.

Good for the sport's interest

On the women's side, Lunde pays tribute to the Swedish breadth.

He highlights Hanna Öberg as one of the biggest challengers to the victory in the overall World Cup.

But most of all, little sister Elvira has impressed.

- The one who really impressed me is Elvira, she has been a fantastic success.

I saw her three years ago at the Swedish Championships in roller skiing and then Wolfgang Pichler said that she will be the next star, and he had every right to say that.

Lunde thinks it is fun for the sport that Sweden competes with Norway - but admits that defeats are not always fun to follow.

- It is clear that it was fun for Sweden and Sebastian Samuelsson to crack Johannes Thingnes Bö in the last standing shooter in the relay.

It is fun for the sport, but not so fun to lose the relay against Sweden as a Norwegian.

But it creates a lot of interest in the sport in both Norway and Sweden and it's fun.

Is Sweden or Norway the best biathlon nation?

- The Norwegian men are clearly the best nation in the world, but on the women's side, Sweden is better than Norway.

So it will be the same.

Tomorrow, SVT will broadcast the men's sprint from Hochfilzen 14.05 on SVT1 / Play.
