The European Cup organizer announced on Wednesday that two matches of the second day of competition were canceled due to the coronavirus.

Toulouse-Exeter and Glasgow-Lyon were scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Commissions will meet to determine the results of these matches.

The Glasgow-Lyon and Toulouse-Exeter matches scheduled for Saturday and Sunday for the second day of the European Cup are "canceled".

Several cases of Covid-19 among players and members of the management of Exeter, which has just beaten Glasgow, prompted the organizer to make this decision on Wednesday.

The clash between Toulouse and Exeter on Sunday was the most anticipated poster of the weekend between the most successful club in the competition (four, tied with Leinster) and the defending champion.

Commissions to "determine the results"

Glasgow, of which several management players are "unavailable" after the trip to Exeter, is "no longer able to field a team of a sufficient level" against Lyon, said the European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) which will convene committees to "determine the results of canceled matches".

Toulouse and Lyon could have won the match on the green carpet if one relies on the previous Castres, the only one since the start of the pandemic in the competitions managed by the EPCR.

In September, Castres was eliminated from the European Challenge due to four cases of Covid-19 which prevented him from flying to Leicester, his opponent at the quarter-finals stage.
