Gerard Houllier was a professional football coach for five decades.

He achieved his greatest success in his native France, where he won the league with Lyon two years in a row (2006 and 2007).

In addition, he led France to a U19 European Championship gold in 1996.

For the Swedish audience, he is probably most remembered as a Premier League coach.

In 1998-2004 he was manager of Liverpool, and led them to victory in both the UEFA Cup-FA Cup and the League Cup in 2001. The same year he was also elected coach of the year in Europe.
