Former Brazilian international Robinho's sentence to 9 years' imprisonment was confirmed by the Milan Court of Appeal on Tuesday.

The former Rossonero was found guilty of the gang rape of a young woman committed in 2013 while playing at AC Milan.

The 2013 group sexual violence judgment, which targeted both Robinho and one of his friends, was upheld by judges at the Milan Court of Appeal.

The two men were among a group of six accused of participating in the gang-rape of a 20-year-old woman at a Milan nightclub.

They were both ordered to pay damages of 60,000 euros to the young woman.

Robinho, 36, who has denied the facts, has 90 days to appeal, after he was forced to leave his training club, Santos, last October due to the pressure exerted by the sponsors of the Brazilian team.

" I do not care "

The Globo Sports television channel had broadcast extracts of tapes, which Italian prosecutors used in their indictment and in which the player allegedly said about the case: "I don't care", "the girl was completely drunk.

She doesn't remember what happened ”.

Robinho started his career at Santos in 2002 and joined Real Madrid in 2005, then Manchester City from 2008 to 2015 before completing his European experience at AC Milan in 2014 where he stayed for four years.
