Almost a week after his rescue by Jean Le Cam, Kevin Escoffier boarded a French Navy frigate to reach Reunion Island.

At the microphone of Europe 1, he talks about his welcome by the army and the days spent in the company of his savior.

"I arrived on the Nivôse with a pair of boots, an oilskin and my survival suit."

Almost a week after being rescued by Jean Le Cam, skipper Kevin Escoffier was picked up by the French Navy frigate overnight from Saturday to Sunday.

After throwing himself into the water between his rescuer's ship and the army's semi-rigid, the navigator recounts his welcome in the military building to the microphone of Europe 1.

“Kisses my quail, thank you!

"The meal was excellent !"

Arrived almost exclusively with the clothes he had on him when he boarded his liferaft, Kevin Escoffier seems to have been taken care of by the army.

"I took a hot shower, I was provided with room and board, and even the navy seaman's outfit," he explains.

And to specify with a touch of humor: "the meal was excellent!"

Kevin Escoffier will arrive on Reunion Island in less than three days.

A cohabitation on the "Yes We Cam" in the form of "therapy on the loss of a boat"

But the skipper of the PRB team also looked back on the few days spent aboard Jean Le Cam's "Yes We Cam".

"Frankly, it was great to meet Jean. On the one hand because he's a character, but also because he's someone who has had ups and downs in his career."

These setbacks whose climax took place during the 2008-2009 edition of the Vendée Globe.

That year, Jean Le Cam lost his boat and was rescued by the navigator Vincent Riou and his ship ... PRB.

A coincidence that makes Kevin Escoffier say that "life is just crazy sometimes".

A common point which the two friends apparently discussed at length during these few days of cohabitation aboard the "Yes We Cam": "The fact of discussing this with him was a therapy on the loss of a boat."

Refueling and words of encouragement for Jean Le Cam

For his part, Jean Le Cam, once again alone, got back into the race.

But first, the Navy gave him little gifts: supplies with some tasty dishes and words of encouragement written by the hand of the Nivôse crew.

Messages that touched him a lot.

Like the other competitors who were diverted to help Kevin Escoffier, Jean Le Cam will receive time compensation so as not to be penalized in the competition.

But this time will be counted from his course only when he has crossed the finish line.
