It was in corona times an odd sight that met the players at the Olympic Stadium in London on Saturday night.

Last week, the news came that some English clubs would be allowed to receive up to 2,000 people in the stands from 2 December, and Arsenal were the first to meet Rapid Wien in the Europa League on Thursday.

Two days later, West Ham and Manchester United also enjoyed seeing thousands of people in the stands.

Pictures of singing and applauding fans were wired out in TV broadcasts around the world and West Ham coach David Moyes spoke about the scenes before kick-off.

- We hope that it (the supporters' return) will have a positive effect.

We have played well, especially at home, and hopefully they will help us, Moyes told Sky Sports according to the BBC.

- It is at least a start.

This arena has capacity for many, many more, but the guidelines are what they are, the shots continued.

In front of the football-hungry crowd, West Ham took the lead on a corner in the 38th minute through Tomas Soucek.

The match is in progress.
