William Eklund has impressed in Djurgården this season and was picked the other day in the national team captain Tomas Montén's gross squad for the championship.

But now Djurgården's shooting star from JVM games is stopped.

It was C More who during his SHL broadcast came with the information that Eklund is not allowed to play JVM in Edmonton, which starts at the end of December.

It is about Eklund being infected with the coronavirus and that he was this one day too long and too close to leaving for Canada - and thus not allowed into the country.

"Barely had symptoms"

- It's sad of course.

I had been looking forward to this.

I have talked to Montén and he also thinks it was sad but that it is as it is.

I have hardly had any symptoms, it makes the whole thing even weirder, says Eklund to SVT Sport.

Federal captain Montén will come during the week that will gather his national team for a camp in Sundsvall.

The record-breaking gross squad will then be slimmed down before the national team travels to Canada on December 12.

- Now I will sit and watch the matches from home and cheer on the team, says Eklund.
