Haas driver Romain Grosjean has returned to the Bahrain paddock with visible traces of his serious accident.

Four days after the dramatic crash at the Grand Prix in Sakhir, the French limped into the quarters of his racing team on Thursday with a splint on his left foot and thick bandages on both of his burned hands.

The 34-year-old Formula 1 driver crashed into a guardrail shortly after the start on Sunday, his car broke up and went up in flames.

As if by a miracle, Grosjean survived the accident largely unscathed, and after three days he was able to leave the hospital.

At the penultimate round of the season in Bahrain, the veteran will sit out and be replaced by the Brazilian Pietro Fittipaldi.

It is still unclear whether Grosjean will be ready for the season finale in Abu Dhabi next week.

“We've all been doing this for years, and unfortunately something happens at some point.

But it's not like it happens every day.

In my opinion, it is all the more important to get back into the car as quickly as possible, ”wrote ex-racing driver Nick Heidfeld in his Sky column.

In the end, however, everyone has to decide for themselves what makes the most sense for them.

Grosjean has to leave Haas at the end of the year.

In the coming year Mick Schumacher will drive for the US racing team.

The Frenchman already gave his successor a tip.

Looking at the team members at Haas, Grosjean said, "Take care of them and they will give you 1000 percent back."
