The release of 15 people accused of bullying against the Zamalek star

The Egyptian authorities released 15 people in the governorates of Beheira and Luxor, who were arrested Sunday on charges of bullying the player Mahmoud Abdel-Razek "Shikabala", the captain of the football team in Zamalek, according to what a judicial official said today.

"The Public Prosecutor in Luxor (south) decided to release the four defendants in the bullying incident using a black dog against Zamalek player Mahmoud Abdel Razek, nicknamed Shikabala, on a bail of 500 pounds ($ 32)," the official told AFP.

"The Prosecutor of Itay Al-Baroud in Al-Buhaira Governorate (Nile Delta) released 11 people, on Tuesday, in the incident of bullying, with the guarantee of their place of residence," the official added.

The official stated that this release is pending investigation, which means that the case has not ended.

On Sunday, the Egyptian authorities arrested 15 people on charges of bullying, after insulting "Shikabala", according to what the Interior Ministry announced in a statement.

After Al-Ahly club achieved its ninth title in the CAF Champions League by defeating its traditional rival Zamalek 2-1 last Friday, fans went out to celebrate with their club's red shirts and flags in various governorates of Egypt.

Veteran Shikabala (34 years) scored the goal of Zamalek with effort and a wonderful shot.

Al-Ahly and Zamalek matches have always witnessed excessive sensitivity inside and outside the stadium, due to the historical duel between them.

The president of Zamalek club, at the time, wrote on his official Facebook page, "The club submitted a report to the Attorney General, supported by a number of offensive videos against the player, to demand punishment for those who committed various incidents after the last summit match.

He added that these facts "have underestimated Shikabala in dishonorable behavior that society and religions reject, bullying and racism against him in an unacceptable way."
