Leipzig, with Emil Forsberg in the starting eleven, needed three points to put pressure on Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

It looked promising when Dani Olmo shot in 3-1 in a skilful way in the 66th minute.

But Irfan Kahveci, who had scored Basaksehir's only goal, was roasting in front of goal.

After 72 minutes, he converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead.

Barely a quarter of an hour later, he acknowledged.

He pulled with his left foot at a free kick and then had the ball go in via the crossbar.

A tough blow for Leipzig who then ended up in a precarious situation in the group.

Alexander Sörloth came on, Emil Forsberg had to leave the fray.

The Norwegian shot in 4-3 in extra time.

The victory means that Leipzig shares first place in the group with Manchester United.

Both teams have nine points, but United have played one game less.

Forsberg delivered an assist

In the third minute of the game, Forsberg could have given the Germans a dream start.

He got the ball in the middle of the penalty area, but the shot went outside.

Just over halfway, Marcel Sabitzer shot in 1-0 via Yussuf Poulsen.

In the 43rd minute, Forsberg took revenge for the miss earlier.

The Swede was behind the 2-0 goal when he assisted Nordi Mukiele.

Basaksehir had time to reduce before the first half was over.
