Suspending Mortada Mansour’s Council and appointing a temporary committee to manage Zamalek Club

The Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports announced in an official statement today, Sunday, the formation of a committee to manage the Zamalek club after the current council headed by Mortada Mansour was suspended.

The ministry stated that in light of the Ministry of Youth and Sports’s decision to suspend the Zamalek Club’s board of directors and refer it to the Public Prosecution, a committee has been formed whose task is to manage and run the work of the Zamalek Sports Club in light of the Egyptian Sports Law and the Articles of Association of the Zamalek Club and assign the Directorate of Youth and Sports in Giza and form the relevant temporary committee To manage the club.

The committee includes Judge Ahmed Bakry Mohamed Hamida, President of the Court of Appeal at the Cairo Court of Appeal, Judge Hisham Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, President of the Court of Appeals at the Cairo Court of Appeal, and First Public Advocate Mohamed Sayed Attia Ali Ahmed, the first public attorney at the Public Prosecution at the Court of Cassation.

The ministry had decided earlier today to suspend and exclude the board of directors of the Zamalek Club and to refer the financial violations contained in the report of the Financial and Administrative Inspection and Inspection Committee and the violations it contained in the Public Prosecution.

The Egyptian Ministry of Sports clarified in an official statement, "In light of the results of the financial and administrative examination and inspection committee formed by the decision of the Minister of Youth and Sports No. 434 of 2020 dated September 23, 2020 from specialists from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Central Auditing Organization with the aim of carrying out its work for financial and administrative inspection of various sports and youth bodies. In various parts of the Republic, the Ministry issued Decision No. 520 of 2020 on 29 November 2020 referring the financial violations of the Zamalek Club contained in the report and the violations it contained to the Public Prosecution, with the suspension and exclusion of the Zamalek Club Board of Directors, the Executive Director and the Financial Director from managing the club’s affairs temporarily until the end The investigations of the Public Prosecution office, and the results that will emerge from it, or until the legal period prescribed by law for the Board of Directors expires, whichever is earlier.

The ministry added, "The Directorate of Youth and Sports in Giza, as the competent authority, was assigned to supervise the Zamalek Club, form a temporary committee to manage the club's affairs, choose whoever does the work of the executive director, and include him in the committee.

The Ministry also decided to suspend and temporarily exclude the boards of directors of Damietta Sports Clubs, Eastern Riyadh and Cairo Sports Clubs, refer their violations to the Public Prosecution, and assign youth and sports directorates, each within its jurisdiction, to form temporary committees to manage them until the prosecution investigations are completed.
