Croatia is a big favorite for the group victory in Sweden's European Championship qualifying group, and had won all three matches they played before tonight's match against Sweden.

Despite this, Sweden, which parks in the group's fourth and last place, took an early lead.

Never close to threatening

But at the end of the first period, Croatia made a move, from 16-16 to 22-16.

Sweden never recovered from that.

Before the first half was over, the distance had grown to 17 points, and when the match was over, Sweden - which after the first period was never close to threatening Sweden - could state that the team's second loss in three days (76-78 against the Netherlands the day before yesterday) was a fact.

Croatia eventually won 87-82.

However, the European Championship dream lives on.

Three of the group's four teams go to the European Championships in 2022. Two matches remain, and the distance up to group three Turkey is only one point.
