Personally, I was pleasantly surprised by how alert, fast and strong the 54-year-old looked.
It was clear that he was better trained than his three year younger opponent Roy Jones Jr, also considered a royalty in the boxing world.
Of course, it seemed that the old version of Tyson - which fans either loved or loved to hate - no longer exists.
But he still flashed with a couple of left hooks and some heavy body blows.
Tyson was aggressive and managed to keep the same pace throughout the match while Jones got significantly tired.
Certainly he benefited from the fact that the rounds were only two minutes long instead of three, which is standard.

According to the official verdict, the match was a draw.
But for all who watched, it was clear that Mike Tyson won.
In my eyes with eight rounds to zero, 80-72.
But since this was a showdown, there were no real referees.
Instead, a trio of old world champions sat in the arena and handed out points with purely comically different results.
The framing at the gala was lavish and neither Tyson nor Jones need be ashamed of their efforts.

For a while this spring, it was even rumored that he would make a real effort to be able to challenge one of the current world champions.
But it had ended really badly.
In the end, this was never the disaster that some predicted, but even if Tyson says he wants to go more matches, I think the interest went out last night.
This was about people's curiosity about him and that tension will be difficult to recreate again in a few months.
