It has been rumored for a while but today it became official that Rebecka Blomqvist leaves Gothenburg for Wolfsburg after the season.

- This means a lot to me, to get the chance to train and play with one of Europe's best clubs.

It is important and I feel ready to take that step, says Rebecka Blomqvist to SVT Sport.

In Wolfsburg, which is the reigning German champions, Blomqvist becomes a teammate with the Swedish national team striker Fridolina Rolfö.

- It's really nice.

Because it is clear that this will be a change for me.

It will be a new environment, a new country and a new language, says Blomqvist.

"They appreciate my player qualities"

The 23-year-old has been a key player for Gothenburg in recent years.

This year she has accounted for nine goals and been a strong contributing factor to the club taking its first Swedish Championship gold.

- I have had full focus on Gothenburg in recent months, with top battles and all that has been.

It is only now that the emotional emotions catch up.

Now I just want to go down there and start my new life, she says.

Already last season, there was a dialogue between Wolfsburg and Blomqvist's agent.

This summer, they resumed contact and a few months ago the transition was completed.

The moving load goes directly after next week's national team gathering.

- It has been important to me that Wolfsburg kept an eye on me for a while.

It feels like they really want me down and appreciate my player qualities.
