In a sport governed by rules intelligible to all, the third row Charles Ollivon would have continued to assume his function as captain of the XV of France, Saturday against Italy, in Saint-Denis.

However, it is the scrum-half Baptiste Serin who will officiate against the Transalpins for his 40th selection, on the third day of the new Nations Cup.

Because, following a forceps agreement between the FFR, the LNR and the clubs, the Blues can not play more than three international matches this fall.

Aligned against Wales, Ireland and Scotland, Ollivon returns to Toulon.

And it is his Var teammate Serin, absent in Edinburgh on Sunday and left at the disposal of the RCT, who takes the stripes.

A very revamped team

"He is evolving in a pivotal position with responsibilities to be taken on the field," indicates Raphaël Ibañez, manager of the Blues, in a video broadcast by the FFR.

It was felt that his experience and leadership in the living environment could also very well help the new and young players who will sign up this week to prepare for the match against Italy.

"

Serin (26), usual replacement for the inevitable Antoine Dupont, will therefore lead a fundamentally altered squad against Italy, his third match of the fall with the XV of France, after Ireland and Wales.

This limit reached, the former Bordeaux will in turn have to leave his place in the probable final of the Autumn Cup against England, the following weekend.

A third captain will therefore be appointed.
