The Paris-2024 Olympic Games are not unanimous.

More than a hundred people gathered on Tuesday in Saint-Ouen at the call of citizen collectives to denounce "the damage" that, according to them, will generate in Seine-Saint-Denis the development projects of this event.

Under the banner: "JO-Paris 2024, poisoning and looting of Seine-Saint-Denis", the demonstrators marched in the late afternoon in the streets of Saint-Ouen and Saint-Denis.

They notably made a stop in front of the site of the future Olympic village.

"In reality, Seine-Saint-Denis will not benefit from the gigantic investments of the promoters of the Olympic Games but rather from pollution, expulsions and speculation", denounced Hugo Coldeboeuf, of the collective for the defense of allotment gardens. Aubervilliers.

"Long-term nuisances"

“Rampage 2024”, “Who profits from fencing?

"," Polluter-2024 ": throughout the course, demonstrators stuck posters hostile to the Games on the gates of construction sites protected by guards.

"Behind the green dress of state planners and private promoters, the projects linked to the Olympic Games are concretely reflected in the increase in the concreteization of Seine-Saint-Denis", estimated Marianna Kontos, of the Citizen Vigilance Committee of the Olympic Games -2024.

"A large number of buildings planned will only be useful during the three weeks of the Olympics but will cause long-term nuisance for the inhabitants", she added.

The mobilization should continue.

This citizens' committee has already planned to organize in the coming months, "toxic tours", a series of guided tours on the Olympic sites of Seine-Saint-Denis, in order to show "the concrete impacts in terms of pollution, and public debt that the political decisions of the Olympic Games-2024 will have ”.
