Coronavirus postpones the Ukraine-Switzerland match

The Ukrainian Football Association announced that the country's national team match against its Swiss host in the final round of Group D competitions for the first level of the European Nations League competition will not be held as scheduled today in Lucerne due to positive cases of many Ukrainian players for the emerging Corona virus.

The Ukrainian Federation said in a statement that this decision "came after the health authorities in Lucerne placed the entire Ukrainian team in quarantine," indicating that it informed the European Union of the game ("UEFA") of this.

No new match date has been set yet.

The Ukrainian Federation had announced earlier that three players, the Italian midfielder Ruslan Malinovsky, Shakhtar Danetsk Sergei Krivtsov and Junior Moraich, had tested positive at the hotel they were staying in in Switzerland.

On Monday, three other players, goalkeeper Dmitro Reznik, defender Eduard Sobol and midfielder Yevgen Makarenko, tested positive for "Covid-19".

Krivtsov and Moraich contracted the virus in October, like many other members of their team who were affected by this virus.

The results of their tests were positive due to the presence of antibodies in their bodies, but the Swiss authorities refused to allow them to play the match at a time when they obtained the approval of the European Union, according to the Ukrainian Federation.
