During a meeting with players in the world of sport on Tuesday, Emmanuel Macron wished to reassure and affirm his support for both amateur and professional athletes: more than 400 million euros will be brought to support the sports economy.

In addition, the President of the Republic announced that the return of supporters to the stadiums will not take place before 2021.

During a meeting with players in the world of sport on Tuesday, Emmanuel Macron wished to reassure and affirm his support for a world of sport that feels neglected and calls for an emergency plan not to sink in the coming months.

In total, more than 400 million euros will be released to support this sector affected by the coronavirus crisis.

For professional sport

The

return of spectators to the stadiums will not take place before the beginning of the year 2021

and it will have to respect a gauge which will be linked to the capacity of the stadiums or halls, first affirmed Emmanuel Macron.

A club

ticketing compensation fund

will also be created.

Funded by the state to the tune of

110 million euros

, it will help professional clubs to partially cover the loss of revenue linked to ticketing.

The compensation will be fixed according to the importance of the ticket office in the turnover of the club, with therefore adaptations for each club.

Some federations or event organizations will also be entitled to it, such as the French football or rugby federations for the Blues matches.

exemption from social charges for clubs over the months of October, November and December

, with no criteria for lower turnover.

For amateur sport

Emmanuel Macron also wants

sports activities for young people in clubs to be able to resume in December

after being suspended by the coronavirus crisis.

This recovery, which depends on the evolution of the epidemic, will be linked to the implementation of

reinforced protocols, in particular for indoor sports

The services of Jean-Michel Blanquer and Roxana Maracineanu are already working on this health protocol.

The President also announced the

launch in 2021 of a "sport pass" device to help young people to practice sports

, at a total cost of

100 million euros

.

The criteria for this help for families to pay for club membership or buy equipment have yet to be defined, for a launch in 2021.

In addition,

5,000 civic service positions

will be created.

These people will be sent to the clubs to compensate for the loss of volunteers.
