Much of the golf talk is about the sport's new, young and far-reaching stars.

But at Augusta National, Bernhard Langer shows that it is possible to get quite far with a lot of seven-year-old experience as well.

Langer, who reaps great success on the American senior tour on a daily basis, is always welcome at Augusta as an old champion (1985 and 1993).

This week he has started with 68 and 73 strokes respectively and is guaranteed to continue playing this weekend.

No one has ever been older and passed the qualifying limit in the Masters.

- There have been so many great players here before me, from Jack Nicklaus to Gary Player to all the giants who have competed here.

Being the oldest who has managed the "cut" is definitely an achievement.

Hopefully I can play for a few more years and enjoy this place, says Langer.

Located divided 27th

The debut in the classic major took place already 38 years ago and as recently as 2014, Langer finished eight at Augusta.

- I like this golf course, he says.

- I know how to play around it, even if I have to hit very long clubs.

But it really is not easy, this is a place for those who hit far and it has always been.

The previous age record was held by the American Tommy Aaron, who was also 63 years old but a month younger than Langer when he passed the qualifying limit in 2000.

Bernhard Langer is split 27th ahead of this weekend's game.
