Sweden appoints a new independent anti-doping organization, NADO.

This after Wada, the international anti-doping agency, criticized the fact that the Swedish Sports Confederation led the work against doping in Sweden.

Wada demands that such organizations be independent of sports and the government.

The new organization, which has not yet been appointed, will enter into force on 1 January 2021. It is proposed that a former active athlete at national team level or equivalent be included on the board.

- There should be no doubt that Swedish anti-doping activities are world-class. We have welcomed the new anti-doping code and for me it is obvious that Sweden should do what we can to be a role model in anti-doping issues, says Minister of Sports Amanda Lind (MP) in a statement.
