Due to Carl Starfelt's covid 19 infection, the corona focus was on the national team management's press conference ahead of the important match in the Nations League against Croatia.

- It is sad that what is happening now is happening.

But we have met teams that had corona in their squad, so this is nothing new for us.

We are confident in what we do and always receive good information from our medical team.

We try to relate to the protocol that we have worked with throughout this Nations League autumn, says assistant national team captain Peter Wettergren, who is responsible for Janne Andersson's absence.

Thinking about the infection

Team captain Marcus Berg admits that he thinks about it a lot.

- The virus is in our midst.

It is clear that people talk about it and think about it extremely much.

It's just a matter of thinking a little extra about how to keep your distance and take care of everything else.

At the same time, there is not much we can do but follow the advice we receive, says Marcus Berg.

For Sweden, the match is extremely important to stay in the A-group in the Nations League.

When the teams last met, the Croatians won 2-1.

Sweden is last in the group before the match.

- We have an ambition to remain in Group A, and will do everything we can to win the match against Croatia.

We do not have anything else.

We have beaten teams like this before and have good faith that we can do it this time as well.

But we have to do our best to get there, says Peter Wettergren.

"A little half frustrated"

Federation captain Janne Andersson is in quarantine due to covid-19.

But had also missed the match against Croatia due to a suspension - and may not have contact with Wettergren and the rest of the management during the match according to the rules.

- He will support as much as he can from home, and we will have contact as long as we get.

We have spoken three times yesterday and once today and will speak a few more times in the afternoon, says Peter Wettergren.

Andersson, however, acts in good spirits under the circumstances.

- It feels like he is on the road to recovery, but it is clear that he is a bit frustrated about not being here, says Peter Wettergren.
