Ramos equals the record for most European matches

Spain and Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos equaled the record for the most international matches at the European level, after participating in a reserve in the friendly match of his national team against the Netherlands (1-1).

Ramos, 35, fought against the Netherlands, his 176th game at the international level, equaling the European record registered in the name of former Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, and he is 8 matches away from the world record equalization recorded in the name of Egyptian Ahmed Hassan with 184 international matches.

Ramos played his first international matches in 2005 when he was eighteen years old against China, and then contributed greatly to his country's team winning the European Cup in 2008 and 2012 and the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

After the match against the Netherlands, coach Luis Enrique Braamos praised, "Sergio is a unique player, he is on another level. Achieving the record for the number of international matches is for very distinguished players."

Ironically, Ramos is the eighth best goal in the history of the Spanish national team despite the position he occupies, and he has visited the net 23 times at the international level.
