The 45-year-old came to Mjällby before the season and has been involved in bringing the newcomer to a seventh place in the table with three rounds left to play.

The contract was signed for one plus one year and now it is clear that there will be no continuation.

Mjällby justifies on its website:

"We have different ways of looking at how our way of working should be for our sporting organization in the future, and therefore feel that it is better that we continue to work in different directions."

Lantz will continue to lead the team the last three games.

- We are of course satisfied with the result the management team and the player squad have achieved on the pitch 2020. However, when we look ahead and shape the organization that we believe is right for us as a club to take the next step, we have come to the conclusion that Marcus' way of working fits optimally.

We therefore choose, in agreement with Marcus, not to extend our agreement until 2021, says club manager Fredrik Danielsson in a statement.

Mjällby has won ten matches this season and is two points behind Hammarby and IFK Norrköping.

- I am grateful and proud of my time in Mjällby and the result we have achieved.

Together we are now making sure to get a really good end to the season, says Marcus Lantz.
