The members of the committee also agreed to re-open the door for applications to host the AFC U-23 Cup for the years 2022 and 2024 in the West Asia region, provided that the arrangement for the 2026 edition will be part of the preparation for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

The priority will be in the future edition of the AFC U-23 Championship in years that are not part of the Olympic qualifiers, to be held in the countries that will host the AFC Asian Cup.
