Maradona is recovering well after undergoing brain surgery

Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona is recovering well after undergoing brain surgery last Tuesday, and he may leave the hospital this week, as his doctor said yesterday.

Maradona, who celebrated his 60th birthday last month, underwent surgery last week to remove a hematoma in his brain.

"Diego's health is constantly improving and we are considering leaving the hospital, and that tomorrow," said Maradona's personal physician, Leopoldo Locke.

Maradona, who quarantined himself in his home for two weeks after one of his companions suffered from symptoms of the Corona virus, began pale during his brief appearance on October 30 when he celebrated his 60th birthday at the Chimnazia stadium, the club that oversees his training in the Argentine First Division, and was experiencing difficulty in Walking and did not stay to watch his team match.

Then he was transferred to a hospital in La Plata, a suburb of Buenos Aires, a few days later, where he was suffering from anemia and dehydration.

When he underwent routine examinations, it was found that there was a blood fluke in his brain, so his doctor decided to conduct an urgent surgery for him, as he was transferred to a private clinic in the capital.

The Argentine star’s life was punctuated by many health problems, some of which nearly claimed his life.

In 2000, Maradona suffered a heart attack after a drug overdose in the coastal city of Punta del Este.

Then he underwent a long treatment in Cuba.

And in 2004, when he weighed more than 100 kilograms, he suffered another heart attack in Buenos Aires, but survived.

Then he underwent stomach surgery that allowed him to lose 50 kg of weight.

In 2007, his excessive alcohol use led to his hospitalization.
