It is a huge relief for all the skippers of the next Vendée Globe.

After a wave of PCR tests passed on Saturday, the 33 sailors and sailors of the solo round the world race are negative for the coronavirus.

They will all be at the start, Sunday at 1:02 p.m., in the bay of Les Sables d'Olonne.

[FLASH NEWS🚨]

PCR tests carried out by the skippers 48 hours before the start of the Vendée Globe have established that the 33 registered are negative for Covid-19.

The fleet will therefore be complete this Sunday, 1:02 p.m., for the start of the 9th Vendée Globe!

“The health protocol put in place by the Organization has made it possible to effectively preserve the entire fleet in view of the start tomorrow,” explains Yves Auvinet, President of the Vendée Globe, on the race site.

I would like to thank the skippers and the teams for having known how to respect this restrictive system, but nevertheless necessary in the current period.

The skippers have indeed been isolated with their families for several days to avoid contamination just before departure.
