Figure Skating Shun Sato Leads East Japan Championship Men's SP November 6th 23:06

The East Japan Championship of figure skating was held in Yamanashi Prefecture, and in the short program of the first half of the men's single, 16-year-old Shun Sato took the lead by deciding continuous jumps from quadruple.

The East Japan Championship, which will be the qualifying round for the All Japan Championship in December, began on the 6th in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, with a short program for men and women singles.

Of these, Sato, who won the Junior Grand Prix Final last year, participated in the men's singles.

Sato decided to make four and three consecutive jumps at the beginning, but the following difficult quadruple Lutz fell. After that, he succeeded in triple accelerator and got the highest rated level four in three spins and took the lead with a score of 81.84.

Sato said, "In the short program, I gained more confidence in my practice without making mistakes. I was confused about the quadruple Lutz. I want to succeed in the free time on the 7th."

On the other hand, 17-year-old Yuma Kagiyama, who won the Youth Olympic Games in January, continued to make mistakes in jumps that originally had a sense of stability, such as the quadruple toe loop becoming double, as well as his strong spins and steps. But he didn't improve his score and finished second with 71.72.

Kagiyama said, "I was too cautious and couldn't move. It was the first time that the toe loop jumped out of the game and I was upset and affected other performances. In a sense, I regret that I had a good experience. I want to fix it for free on the 7th. "

In the women's single short program, Higuchi Wakaba took the lead with a performance of 70.71 without major mistakes.
