This year's MediaAmazon has been awarded since 2010. The first to receive the award was Hanna Stjärne, who is now CEO of Swedish Television.

According to the statutes, the award should go to a person who has

"excelled especially for good and innovative journalistic leadership"

and is

"a role model for other female media leaders and should have actively contributed to promoting women's leadership in the industry"

.

In 2020, SVT's sports director Åsa Edlund Jönsson will receive the award.

- Together with her editorial staff, she has taken women's sports into the spotlight and made female athletes visible to the television audience.

She receives the award for her courage to break new ground with an inclusive world-class sports coverage.

For this, she and her editorial staff have received international recognition, says Cecilia Zadig who is the initiator of the award.

"Has required enormous courage"

Åsa Edlund Jönsson about the award:

- I am extremely grateful for this award that I share with the entire SVT Sport editorial staff.

Together, we have in the last five years launched a completely new journalistic focus with equal sports coverage.

The work has required enormous courage as we have challenged heavy traditions but the result is striking.

Today we have more of our own news, broadcast more live sports and have doubled the traffic to svtsport.se.

But above all, we are relevant to the entire sports audience and it is not a day too early, says SVT's sports director Åsa Edlund Jönsson.
