The last thing he did was not give up, says his father Börje Hansson to Expressen.

Hansson was diagnosed with a brain tumor in January 2019. He underwent surgery and then began cancer treatment.

But Hansson did not give up the investment in his sport.

Among other things, he competed in Finnkampen in the autumn of 2019 and participated in the indoor Swedish Championships as late as February this year.

Then he won gold.

He was fully treated and had hope for life, but in the early summer new tumors were found, writes Svenska gang och vandrarförbundet.

It turned out to be incurable.

Since then he has fought a battle but on Friday his body was forced to give up.

Hansson made his first international championship as a 17-year-old at the youth WC in Italy in 2009. He won his first SM gold as a senior at the indoor SM in Växjö in 2014. In 2017, he did his second WC in London.

Hansson finished 27th in the 50 km in the personal best of 3.58.00
