Thibaut Pinot estimated Sunday the route of the next Tour de France "really classic" and less favorable to climbers, after the revelation of the map of the 108th edition.

"It's a course that we haven't had for several years, with a lot of sprints, a lot of stages for punchers, not enough mountain in the first part and quite tough Pyrenees", declared the Franc-Comtois, who was one of the favorites for the 2020 edition before falling from the first stage in Nice.

Nice the route of the 2021 tour with the start at home in Brittany but also a lot of stages on the edges 🙈😜 # TDF2021

"A course for complete runners"

The rider of the Groupama-FDJ team pointed out "a good stage in Tignes, which for me is the most fun mountain stage".

“There are a lot of stages where the wind could be quite tricky,” noted Pinot (30).

"It's a different course than in recent years, less for climbers, more for complete runners especially with two big lap times".

"You have to see in detail, it's a course which is interesting anyway," concluded the winner of the Tourmalet stage in 2019, visibly on the reserve.
