After a year of discussions, it became clear the other day that Felix Rosenqist will leave Chip Ganassi and get a place in the hard-working Arrow McLaren.

- It feels very exciting with the new deal, it is a dream to drive for McLaren.

It feels very right for me, in this part of my career, to come to a stable that is on the way up, he says to SVT Sport.

"Biggest reason why this is interesting"

McLaren has a successful stable in Formula 1 and at the head office in England, 12 people work full time with Indycar, where there is a direct collaboration with the Formula 1 part of the business.

- Everyone who is interested in motorsport knows what resources McLaren has there with wind tunnel and almost 1000 people employed.

That is really what is the biggest reason why I think this is interesting and can provide something long-term, says Rosenqvist.

It was with Chip Ganassi that Rosenqvist made his debut in Indycar.

Many predicted that he would be the successor to Scott Dixon, who has been successful for several seasons in the stable.

- I think we all had a different plan when this started, that we would do something together for a very long time.

But things change and it did not happen.

I think we have both handled this professionally and there are no hard feelings.

Rosenqvist opened to leave

The contract with Chip Ganassi expired after this season and throughout the year there have been discussions about what the future should look like, where it was Rosenqvist who opened up so that it might not be an extension.

- It has most to do with the fact that the deal with McLaren felt right in every way.

I thought it felt like a place where I could grow and where I could get started on something that could be very good.

This was a chance and sometimes you have to take the chances and drive, he says and continues:

- The goal is for us to build something unique and strong for the future.

It's a young gang that is hungry and has everything to gain.

I feel that I fit into that mentality very well.
