Neither Malmö nor Färjestad have started the SHL particularly impressively.

Malmö is admittedly behind Färjestad, but had two straight victories against Värmland before tonight's match.

In addition, Färjestad still lacked a three-pointer on away ice despite six attempts during the autumn.

Färjestad started the match best.

After three minutes, Albert Johansson put 1-0, and just over a minute before the first period break, Jens Westin fired a rock-hard shot up the crossbar to make it 2-0.

- It came pretty well.

I had to take charge and try to take in as much as possible and aim for the cross, says Westin to C More.

Caught up to 2-2

Then Färjestad looked to be on the way to a long-awaited three-pointer, but Malmö was the better team in period 2.

Already after 30 seconds, Fredrik Händemark reduced to 1-2, and a moment later Johan Olofsson nodded in 2-2, seemingly unintentionally, since he set speed towards the goal after a return.

- First 20 to us.

Second 20 to Malmö, was the summary from Färjestad's coach Johan Pennerborn to C More.

Virtanen gave FBK three points

Malmö started the third period most vigorously, but did not get the puck in.

Instead, Jesse Virtanen gave Färjestad the lead with 3-2 after he had a beautiful draw and lifted the puck into the far corner.

The pressure was hard on Färjestad's goal in the last minutes, but Arvid Holm managed to hold tight.

Virtanen's goal thus became match decisive and Färjestad was finally able to celebrate three points on away ice, for the first time this season.

- I think we fight them down in the third, says Jens Westin to C More.

Malmö is still second last in a very lame table.
