The documentary '
Eighteam
' that premieres this Thursday for free and exclusively on
Rakuten TV
tells the story of drama and success of the
Zambian
national
team
.
The central axis of the story is the
1993 plane crash
in which 30 people died, 18 of them players from the African team.
Kalusha Bwalya
, star of the team who was saved from misfortune because he was traveling on another plane, serves as the common thread of a documentary that ends with the achievement of the
2012 Africa Cup
, won by Zambia in Libreville (Gabon), a few kilometers away from the 1993 crash site.
EL MUNDO exclusively previews a preview of the documentary in which one of the great milestones of that selection is narrated.
It happened at the
Olympic Games in Seoul
in 1988, when the Zambia team surprised the world by beating
Italy
4-0
with players like Mauro Tassotti and Ciro Ferrara.
That game was the presentation to the world of the 'Chipolopolo' and specifically of Bwalya, author of three of the four goals of that feat.
