Zlatan Ibrahimovic is Sweden's best football player of all time and still excels in Milan, but it has been discussed whether his mentality did not fit in the national team.

Among other things, an anonymous national team leader has described "Ibra's" behavior as "adult bullying at a high level", even though players like Rasmus Elm and Oscar Lewicki toned it all down.

Now the former national team captain Erik Hamrén speaks.

In "Skavlan" he strikes back at the claim that Ibrahimovic had as free a role outside as on the pitch.

- The things that came out in the media are not true.

That Zlatan could do exactly what he wanted in the national team is absolutely not true, says Hamrén.

"Then he stopped"

He also reasoned about a certain sequence after the match against Italy in the European Championship 2016. Then Éder took off in the final minutes and scored the only goal of the match, which became psychologically leaden for "Blågult".

- There was a discussion after the match between Zlatan and Oscar Lewicki.

There I finally had to go in and tell Zlatan that now is enough, and then he stopped in that case, says Hamrén and continues:

- Zlatan was annoyed that Italy made it 1-0 in the end and that Lewicki had the opportunity to trap the player who did.

Had we won or taken points, we would have had a decent chance to advance.

"Supported the players"

Lewicki has previously told Expressen that Ibrahimovic was annoyed about that particular situation and for that very reason.

- It was calm for me.

I've been through worse.

The only thing he shouted was "You should have killed him, killed him".

I understand that I could have taken the player and taken a free kick, Lewicki said in September.

The match after, loss to Belgium, became Ibrahimovic's last in the national team where he is the top scorer of all time with 62 goals.

Hamrén goes on to say:

- There is a lot of emotion and an enormous amount of adrenaline in a football team when everything is at its peak, as against Italy.

As for Zlatan, I have only positive things to say about occasions like this, where he has instead supported the players.
