An advancement to the European Championships or the World Cup is worth gold for the countries that go there.

For example, the Swedish Football Association was rewarded with just under SEK 100 million for the place in the European Championship that was supposed to have been played this summer, but was postponed due to the corona pandemic.

However, a promotion to the ladies' European Championships is not worth as much at all.

In fact, the European Football Association (UEFA) does not award any prize money at all for participation.

- The actual promotion to the championship currently unfortunately does not provide any income to SvFF, but it is when we participate in the championship that we receive a so-called compensation.

But an advancement means that we participate, says Håkan Sjöstrand, general secretary of the Swedish Football Association, to Aftonbladet.

"Must be an improvement"

The fact that there are such huge differences in prize money has been criticized many times by the Swedish stars.

So too yesterday.

- There must be an improvement.

That is what we strive for all the time. The union can only do its part and show where Sweden stands when it comes to showing how you want to invest externally, said Kosovar Asllani, according to various media, and continued:

- Then it's about Fifa and Uefa having to take the next step and take the lead even more, because right now they are not doing that.

I have thought for a very long time that Fifa and Uefa need to step up, and I do not know how long we will be sitting here answering these questions because it is starting to get tiring.

- We have put that pressure and must continue to do so if we are to bring about a change, because we are not satisfied with the situation as it looks now.
