Manchester City left Olympique de Marseille no chance by punishing (3-0) the French club at the Stade Vélodrome on the second day of the group stage of the Champions League.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, avoided defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach (2-2), led by Marcus Thuram, author of a double.

The Olympics follow each other and are not alike.

Manchester City, eliminated in the quarter-finals of the last edition of the C1 by Olympique Lyonnais (1-3), won Olympique de Marseille (3-0) at the Stade Vélodrome on Tuesday during the second day.

From one Olympic to another, Pep Guardiola's players did not have time to be afraid in front of the very weak Marseillais who put them on the right track with a recovery error from Valentin Rongier, in the penultimate pass , on the opening of the scoring (Torres, 18th).

Uninspired against an English team far from being at its best, Vilas-Boas' men sank in the second half, giving in on achievements from Gundogan (76th) and Sterling (81st).

Thuram scares Zidane

With two defeats in two days, Olympique de Marseille is already feeling the breath of elimination and no longer has a choice before returning to FC Porto's lawn next week.

The Portuguese, beaten on the first day in Manchester (2-1), revived against Olympiakos (2-0).

Marcus Thuram, son of Lilian, former teammate of Zinedine Zidane in the France team, almost played a nasty trick on his "uncle".

The French striker thought to offer a prestigious victory to his German club Mönchengladbach with a brace, but Real were able to revolt a few minutes from the end of the meeting.

Thanks to goals from Benzema (87th) and Casimiro (90 + 3).

Rejuvenated by the clasico won on Saturday in Barcelona (3-1) in La Liga, Zinédine Zidane's team therefore pulled off an almost unexpected 2-2 draw after the defeat against Shakhtar Donetsk (3-2) on the first day.

Bayern and Liverpool go on ...

The reigning European champion, Bayern Munich notched a 13th straight victory in C1 with success on the lawn of Lokomotiv Moscow (2-1).

The Munich club largely dominates group A with six points, ahead of Atlético who defeated Salzburg in the last minutes thanks to a double from Joao Félix (52nd, 85th), while the Austrians had taken the advantage in back from the changing rooms.

Liverpool did not force at home: against the modest Danes of FC Midtjylland, the 2019 European champions won 2-0 thanks to Diogo Jota (55th) on an offering from Trent Alexander-Arnold, then a penalty from Mohamed Salah (90th + 3).

They alone take the lead of group D with 6 points.
