Even if the coronavirus pandemic is far from over, it is back to international judo competitions after an eight-month hiatus.

And to inaugurate this return to the tatami mats, the French women offered themselves two victories at the Grand Slam in Budapest between Friday and Saturday.

Amandine Buchard won in the under 52 kg category, while Audrey Tcheuméo won her fight in the under 78 kg category.

Amandine Buchard easy

The victory is particularly clear for Amandine Buchard.

The 25-year-old has not conceded a single point against her in four fights.

In the final, the world No. 2 in the category inflicted an ippon on the Swiss Fabienne Kocher in less than 80 seconds.

For her part, Audrey Tcheuméo, 30, emerged victorious from a 100% French final against Fanny-Estelle Posvite, hitherto expeditious but beaten by waza-ari to the golden score, additional time after the regulatory four minutes of combat .

For Tcheuméo, 2016 Olympic vice-champion but for the moment not very well placed in the race to qualify for the Tokyo Games, this is her first success in more than two years and her victory at the Tbilisi Grand Prix. in March 2018. She notably took advantage of the absence of the reigning world champion in the category, Madeleine Malonga, due to a painful knee.

A beautiful harvest

The French delegation also obtained two silver medals, with Hélène Receveaux (-57 kg) and Margaux Pinot (-70 kg), and two bronze medals, with Luka Mkheidze (-60 kg) and the surprising Nicolas Chilard (- 81 kg), knocker by ippon of reigning Russian Olympic champion Khasan Khalmurzaev in overtime.

Disappointment on the other hand for the reigning world champion under 70 kg, Marie-Eve Gahié, beaten twice, in her second fight, by the Croatian Barbara Matic (waza-ari), then by the Austrian Michaela Polleres ( waza-ari), in his match for third place.
