The 31-year-old Leeper was born without lower legs below the knees and can appeal the verdict to the Swiss Supreme Court, which he intends to do after Lausanne-based Cas gave the International Athletics Federation the right in his argument that the prostheses and its high height give him a for great advantage against runners without disabilities.

- I will never give up and will do everything to be able to compete and be judged according to a set of rules that is not discriminatory in any way, says Leeper according to AP.

The case is similar to that of Oscar Pistorius who was allowed to participate in the Olympics in London 2012 with his leg prostheses.

At the 2012 Paralympics, one month after the Olympics, Leeper finished second behind Pistorius in the 400 meters.

Leeper has run 400 meters at 43.64, which would make him ninth through the ages among runners without disabilities.

Wayde van Niekerk holds the world record of 43.03.

Pistorius, 33 years old today, became notorious for shooting his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013. He claimed that he thought it was a burglar who broke into the home and acted in panic.

Several trials followed and the latest sentence from 2017 is 15 years in prison.

He is serving his sentence in Pretoria.

He must have stopped exercising, started smoking and got a beard.

Pistorius has applied for a return of the original sentence of six years but was rejected.

Pistorius may be conditionally released no earlier than 2023.
