Security forces have shot dead several protesters in the Nigerian city of Lagos, Amnesty International reports.

It is still unclear how many were killed.

According to several witnesses, soldiers shot a crowd in the Lekki district.

A permanent curfew has been imposed indefinitely across the state of Lagos to stop the protests against police violence that have grown in recent weeks.

Already this weekend, Napoli's striker Victor Osimhen showed his support for the people in his native Nigeria.

And last night, Manchester United's Odion Ighalo stood on the pitch and spoke a message in a video.

He said, among other things

"I'm not a guy who usually talks about politics but I can not be silent about what is happening at home in Nigeria"

He continued:

"I would like to say that the government is a disgrace to the world, to kill its own citizens, to send the military out into the streets to kill unarmed protesters protesting for their rights.

There is no reason for that "

Thousands of Nigerians have demonstrated to demand an end to police brutality in the West African country.

The decision to dissolve the Sars special forces on October 11 has not satisfied the protesters' dissatisfaction.

The head of the federal police has ordered riot police across the country due to the unrest.
