Since the competition is not organized for the public and it is carried out within a fenced area, where the public does not have access, it is not to be regarded as a public event, the county administrative board writes in a press release.

“The County Administrative Board has, after consultation with the police, examined whether Gotland Grand National 2020 can be assessed as a public event, according to the Public Order Act.

On Wednesday, the County Administrative Board came to the conclusion that the competition is not a public event and thus does not require a permit in accordance with the Public Order Act ", the County Administrative Board writes in a mailing.

It was on Monday that the authorities discovered that the County Administrative Board's permit had not been secured.

During the process, however, the organizer was never worried that the event would be canceled.

The first event with a larger number of participants

"Nordic Sport & Event has done everything right all the way and thinks it is unfortunate but good that the authorities themselves have discovered the matter and have time to correct it before the competition starts on Friday," wrote competition leader Conny Bohlin in a text message to SVT Sport yesterday.

Only on Monday was it noticed that it was the County Administrative Board of Gotland that would issue the permit - which had not happened.

The authority has since held meetings with the police to clarify the matter.

GGN is the first in Sweden with such a large sporting event during the corona pandemic and has received much attention about how the implementation will take place.
