He will discover the Champions League on Tuesday night like a good part of his workforce.

A tempting prospect which does not, however, make Julien Stéphan lose his calm.

Even the legendary music of the Big Ears Cup leaves him rather unmoved.

"It is not the music that I expect but the match, the music will not earn us any points," said Rennes coach on Monday afternoon at a pre-match press conference.

In the Breton capital, however, the excitement is at its peak with the entry into the running of the Rouge et Noir in the big leagues.

“It's normal that everyone is waiting for this, it's the most beautiful of competitions, he says.

The players deserved to live it and they must take advantage of it.

"

Approach the competition "in a very uninhibited way"

But the Breton coach does not especially want his players to be intoxicated by the stakes.

"We must forget the context and the fact that this is a first in the history of the club to think only of the game, it is only that which must obsess us", assures Julien Stéphan, calling his team to approach the competition "in a very uninhibited way".

"We will not have to wait three games to get free, we will have to do it right away," he warns.

For their debut against Krasnodar, the Rouge et Noir can in any case count on the support of 5,000 spectators at Roazhon Park, the prefecture of Ille-et-Vilaine having raised the maximum level this weekend for large gatherings.

"It's not as much as we had hoped for, but it's more than what we had expected," said Julien Stéphan.

We will therefore have to take advantage of this opportunity to bring the public with us and we want this support to be rewarded with a quality performance ”.
